CLASS OF 2019-2020
We have been having such a busy year in Beaumont!
Take a look at what we have been up to...
A very buzzy time of the year!!
Eric had a busy, buzzy visitor!
This little Solitary Bee took a wrong turn and ended up inside!
So Eric took him back outside to the lovely flowers so the bee could enjoy the sun and gather some pollen.
Eric thought it might be a good idea to build a little bug hotel for any other little friends that might be looking for somewhere to stay!!
During our time away from school the children have been keeping active and being very creative.
Everyone had a great Easter with plenty of yummy Easter eggs and some fantastic artwork!
Some essential work just had to continue at home!!
Its fantastic to hear all the birds outside now things are a bit quieter - we wonder if it inspired this amazing colouring!
Its great weather for walking the dogs! And these guys look like they are ready for another ramble!
I think someone learned lots during our recent Engineers Week! Check out this amazing windmill made at home.
During Engineers Week the class got to see and experience lots of different types of engineering.
In 1st class the boys learned about Arduino programming and how to use circuits.
The engineer used his smartphone to control a LED light using bluetooth.
They also got to see a 3D printer in use. It was amazing to see how it worked.
In the space of a few minutes a Minecraft Creeper was created!!
The class also got to create their own engineering projects!
It was great to learn about all the different types of engineers - chemical, mechanical, software, process, civil, electrical. Thanks to all the parents who visited and shared their knowledge & experiences!
This morning we went to Supervalu to get our Pancake Tuesday shopping!
We all helped pay and pack our bags at the checkout.
We had fun shopping!
Lots of fun!!!! :)
Back in class we all picked what we put on our pancakes! They were sooo yummy!!!
Nice to meet you Mr.Pancake (even nicer to eat you!!!)
Pancake decorating can be very artistic!
We hope everyone had a delicious Pancake Tuesday!!!!!
Love is in the air.....
I love you this much!!
Sending all our love to you!
Whooo loves you??
Happy St Valentines Day!!!!
This week was Catholic Schools Week!
Each day we had a new Thought of The Day.
We learned about Rosary Beads and the importance of living in harmony with each other and all of nature.
We made some art around the theme of "Living in Harmony with God's Creation".
For Chinese New Year we have been learning about China and doing lots of art work.
We coloured and cut out our dragons heads and tails. Then we added a body and legs.
We were able to make our dragons move and dance!!
In China the dragons are helpful, friendly creatures who bring good luck!
We created our own pictures of what we think a dragon looks like using different shapes.
We also practiced writing Chinese and used this to make our very own Chinese lanterns!
We also made fans.
Take a look at our amazing display board with all our art work!!
Happy Chinese New Year everyone!!!
新年快乐 (xīn nián kuài lè)
All About the Number 9
Some of the class has been finding out about the number 9.
We've been learning about all the ways of counting to nine.
We've used counters, fingers, blocks, number lines & items around the classroom.
We've been counting, colouring, stacking & adding.
Seize the Clay!
We made some very special clay creations. This is how we did it...
First we got lumps of clay which we rolled into round balls.
Then we squished them flat so that we could use the shape cutters to cut out the shapes we wanted.
After leaving the clay to dry for a little while we were able to begin painting them.
Once the paint was dry our Christmas decorations were ready to be hung on the Christmas tree.
We had a very special visitor to our school!!
We waited outside for him to arrive and we were all very excited!! Elf Marian & Elf Eric were there too!
Then a fire engine arrived with a VIP passenger!
It was Santa Claus!!!! We all clapped and shouted! It was such a great surprise!
Santa then visited us in our classroom. He told us about how busy he was getting ready for Christmas.
And after Santa left we had some yummy hot chocolate with lots of marshmallows!
It was so good!!
From little acorns...
The class learned about how little acorns grow into mighty oak trees.
We then went for a walk in the park to see if we could see any oak trees and see what else we might find.
We found acorns!!
Then we made our own oak trees with lots of button acorns!
We love to get moving in our class!
We made a fantastic obstacle course.
We had great fun balancing, bouncing, running and jumping!
It was great fun!
What are Bee Bots?
Bee-Bot is an exciting robot designed specifically for use by young children.
This colorful, easy-to-operate, and friendly little robot is a perfect tool for teaching sequencing, estimation, problem-solving, and just having fun!
We learned how to program the beebots so that they would follow our commands!!
Then we took the beebots to the Junior Infant class and taught them how to use the beebots!
The girls really loved them too.
Hot Air Balloons:
We learned a new poem about hot air balloons and created some colourful art!
'I saw a hot air balloon
flying over my house
most of the time it was
as quiet as a mouse.
but every so often its
burner suddenly roared
and higher up into the sky
it suddenly soared!'
Our class was turned into spooky town!!!!
And we did some pumpkin carving with Ms. Morley
The children learned about all things space! We focused on The Solar System and learned about the planets. Here's one of the songs we learned: www.youtube.com/watch?v=BZ-qLUIj_AO
We put up a solar system display in our class and made some really 'spacey' art.. can you spot the UFO's!?
And we came up with lots of ideas of what we think we would need to bring to space!
The children were busy collecting chestnuts from the trees. We spotted them around the school and in the park. The children made beautiful hedgehog art with them. Take a look:
