Our First Holy Communion
Our First Holy Communion was on Saturday the 13th of May 2017. Our Communion was held in St Michael’s Church in Blackrock. We had to go the church with the boys to practice a lot before hand. We used to get a double-decker bus down and back. It was great fun. The Holy bread tasted like a wafer. We all had a lot of fun. On Monday we wore our dresses to school and had our Communion photographs!

Our School Tour
On the 18th of May we went on our school tour. We went to the Mardyke Sports Arena. We did a lot of different activities. We were running on the track, dancing, and climbing on the climbing wall. We had to wear harnesses and helmets and we were tied on by a rope while on the climbing wall. We also went on the bouncy castle. After lunch we did more activities. My favourite activity was the climbing wall. Our school tour was lots of fun!

See you all in 2017!!
2nd Class - Making a difference!
This Christmas we did our bit to help out those who are less fortunate than ourselves. We organised a food appeal in our school, along with Mrs Devines 6th class. We decided to help two very worthy Cork charities : Cork Penny Dinners and St Vincent de Paul. We distributed a wish list from both of the charities and we were delighted with the response. We divided the collection between both charities. Mr Keane and Mrs O' Rourke dropped our donation into Cork Penny Dinners and St Vincent de Paul collected their donation from the school. Both charities were delighted with them! Well done girls!!!
We had a lot of fun this Halloween. Dressing up on the last day of school was very exciting. Mrs O' Rourke got quite a surprise when her class of lovely young girls were transformed into scary school girls, zombies, cats and scary brides. We had so much fun!
It wouldn't be Halloween without pumkin carving! We were lucky to have Catherine join us to help us out that day. We were divided into three groups. Catherine, Caroline and Mrs O Rourke each had a group. We had great fun scooping out all of the flesh and seeds. Some girls did not like the gooey flesh. We designed, decorated and carved their features. We were really proud of them!
The Great Beaumont Bake Off!!
It was finally our turn to host the cake sale! We decided to have a Halloween themed cake sale. All of the girls brought in beautiful cakes! Mary Berry would have been really impressed! Mia made a gorgeous but gruesome Halloween raffle cake! Caoimhe in Junior Infants was the lucky girl who won it. A huge thank you to all of the bakers!!
Special Seniors Day
Special Seniors Day is one of our favourite days of the school year. We were delighted to welcome our special seniors to our school. We learned The Beatles song "I wanna hold your hand" to sing to them. After that our special seniors visited our class where they answered questions and told us stories from their childhood. It was a great day!
Crazy about Cricket!!
On Tuesdays we have been learning to play cricket with our cricket coach Ted. We are having so much fun. There are lots of different positions; bowler, batter, wicket keeper and fielders. It is very important to communicate with your running partner to make sure you get back before the fielders touch the wicket with the ball. Some of us are brilliant at hitting the ball really far! Even Mrs O' Rourke had a go! We can't wait for next week!

Have a look at some of the amazing art work we have created so far this term.
Save the date!!!!

Exploring our school garden!
In Science this month we have been busy learning about all things in our school environment. We focused on plants and animals in our environment and the different materials you see. We are so lucky to have such a fantastic school garden. Our garden has a huge variety of different trees, plants, flowers, shrubs, fruit and vegetables growing. As we have such a great facility on our grounds it was also the perfect place for a "Minibeast" hunt. Even Kay our garden expert was on hand to help us seek out lots of interesting bugs and insects. While we were there we collected many different types of leaves to leave rubbings as part of our Autumn art.

New school year, New class teacher, New friends and fun times!
On Friday we played a board game that helped us all to learn more about each other. Every space you landed on had a different question about you. Some of these included, What is your favourite food? Where would you like to visit? What is your favourite colour? We learned so much about each other!
All smiles for the camera!
A few funny faces too!!!
We have had a great few days getting settled into Second Class, catching up after the summer break, making new friends and getting to know each other. We even managed to do a little bit of work too while also having fun!
