6th Class Report
When we started school in September in Ms Devine's sixth class, we were all thinking about how this would be our last year in Beaumont. Even though we were dreading leaving each other at the end of the year we were excited to have fun and experience new things.
During the year 6th class we take part in many things such as basketball, hockey, camogie, football, S.T.E.A.M Challenges, walks… The list could go on and on!
In fact this year we got to the final of Sciath na Scol in both camogie and football, we were runners up in the football and we won the final in camogie. One of the things I enjoyed most this year was the 5km run which was kicked off by Rob Heffernan.
As well as being very active we also participate in a local quiz organized by the Credit Union, there are two teams of four plus two subs. To determine who gets on the team the classes 4th-6th take a general knowledge quiz. The highest scorers get on the quiz team.
At the end of the year we have a lot of events like the Garden Fete, our annual Basketball Tournament, the Fashion Show, out school tour to Kinsale Outdoor Education Centre and the end of year 6th Class Concert.
In the Fashion Show we chose our groups and each group makes a dance and an outfit to wear on the day of the Show. Traditionally we have two shows, one for the school and one for the parents.
This year we went to Kinsale Outdoor Education Centre. We came to school at the usual time. When the bus arrived we made our way out of the school and started our trip to Kinsale. In Kinsale we took part in many activities such as Kayaking, Body Boarding, Rock Climbing, Archery and Team Games. When we returned at five we were all exhausted but we enjoyed the school tour.
Though we are all going to miss each other and this school, I think we’re all ready for secondary school and whatever else awaits us.
As I walked into Beaumont Girls School on the 30th of August a sudden feel of happiness and sadness hit me like a ton of bricks as I knew it would be my last year.
We got a new principal her name is Miss. O’ Brien. She is very nice. I really like herJ.
When I started the year I encountered a few challenging activities such as STEAM challenges which involved making a Spaghetti Tower, Volleyball Machine, Egg Drop and finally a Lego Building Challenge.
At Christmas we went carol singing at the AIB bank and a Supervalu. It was really fun.
We also did sports such as Basketball, Swimming, Camogie, Cycling, Hockey, Gaelic and many more. All of these sports were very enjoyable and I hope to get better at them in the future. I also took part in the Hockey Blitz. It was very fun.
We went on class outings we went to CIT for Engineers week it was very fun. We also went to UCC first we went into the pharmacy then a man gave us a tour on the grounds and told us about the history of UCC which was very interesting.
On the 2nd of April I had my confirmation. I really enjoyed the day. Then on the Thursday after the Confirmation we had our pictures taken.
I did projects such as my personal timeline, Japan and a board game project.
This year we went on a school tour to Kinsale Outdoor Education Centre. We did kayaking which was really fun. We also did archery and we did team games .
On the 13th of June we had our fashion show we had to design our own clothes, make up a dance and strut down the catwalk. I had a great time.
This year has been the best year out of all my eight years in Beaumont. I’m very sad that I’ll be leaving
I started school on the 10th of September because I was on holidays. I was very excited to start my final year in Ms Devine’s class in Beaumont.
When I came to school we were just starting Gaelic, we did Gaelic for about 8 weeks. After about 2 weeks we started swimming we did it for 6 weeks, when swimming finished we had our Grandparents’ Day. Then Halloween came around we had a week off of school.
When we came back to school we started doing stem challenges such as The Spaghetti Tower challenge, The Ping Pong Ball Challenge and more. Then we started cycling, we did it for about 6 weeks. We started basketball; we did it for 6 or 8 weeks. We had our Christmas holidays, we had 2 weeks off.
When we came back we went to C.I.T for Engineering Week. A few weeks later it started to snow and we stayed outside for most of the day! A few days later a Wildlife expert came to the school, we went out by Avondale pitch and we went looking for some small wild animals!
After a couple of weeks we had our Confirmation on Tuesday the 2nd of April! On the Thursday we came to school in our confirmation clothes for pictures! We took group pictures and then pictures by ourselves! Then the next week we had our Easter holidays, we were off for 2 weeks.
When we came back we went to UCC we learned about the buildings and history of UCC! The next day we had Sciath Na Scoil finals for camogie. The next Friday we had our sports day. When we came back to the school we got ice cream and we did Zumba.
Now we are doing the basket ball blitz and my team and I are in the semi-finals and we hope to make it to the finals! On the 13th of June we had our Fashion Show; we danced to many songs such as Dancing Queen, Mama Mia, and California Girls and much more!
On the 17th of June we went on our school tour! We went to Kinsale Outdoor Education Centre. We did kayaking; rock climbing, archery and team games! On Thursday the 20th we have the Garden Fete, we will be selling toys and books and we will be doing obstacle courses, Fortune telling and much more.
On Thursday the 27th we have the sixth class concert we some acts and we sing songs and then we say goodbye to Beaumont.

Ms Devine's Engineering Challenge 2109
As part of our STEM activities for Engineers Week 2019, Ms Devine’s class will participate in the 2019 Fluor Engineering Challenge. Each team has to use limited materials to build a pair of simple devices that work together like a volleyball machine. The volley ball machine has to be able to launch a ping pong ball over a net. The goal is to send the ping pong ball back and forth over the net without touching the ground.
We started our process of planning the designs today.

Computer coding in Ms Devine's class
Our school Book Fair was on in February. The Book Fair is an annual event in our school and each class gets new books when it is over.
When we came back in September we were delighted to get to play with skipping ropes, soccer balls and hoola hoops during break time . We only get them in our second break because it is our longest yard time.
Recently in our yard we have got new picnic tables. They are outside so when it rains they get really wet. But when the tables are dry, they are an enjoyable place to relax with your friends, and have a nice chat.
We think that the benches are really good for our yard because if you don’t want to play with any of the equipment you can have a sit down and relax with your friends.

Once upon a time in a far away land a man and his daughter. Her name was Cinderella and they lived in a splendid house in the country. One day Cinderella’s father went to the market in the village. When he returned, a mysterious looking woman and her two daughters accompanied him to the front door
“Who are you?” asked Cinderella reluctantly
“Cinderella” uttered her father. “This is your new mother and her daughters”.
“Hello my name is Margaret” spoke one of the sisters and I love…
“Hi my name is Lucy” and..
“Hey I was speaking and you butted in Lucy, when I was introducing myself” said Margaret
“Girls calm down,” said their mother sternly.
So Cinderella lead her new sisters up to their new bedroom. While they were walking up the stairs Cinderella asked the girls a question.
“Have any of heard about the village disco for the prince’s birthday party”
“Yes, we have!” they said excitedly.
They reached the top of the stairs the two sisters asked Cinderella if she was going to the disco.
“Oh I don’t know” replied Cinderella. “Father said I’m too young and I’ve never been to a disco before”
“Mother said we could go” retorted the sisters smugly
After Cinderella showed her sisters to their room, she went down to her father and pleaded to the prince’s disco party.
Her father replied strongly, “No”
“But all my friends are going,” protested Cinderella.
“Well that’s their parents’ decision and I don’t want you to go to the disco.”
Cinderella ran up to her room and was crying for ages. Then she texted her friend Snow White and told her that she couldn’t go to the disco.
Snow White said “I have an idea. Maybe if you sneak out and meet me at the park at 7.00pm?”
Then Cinderella got very excited. She pulled on her favourite ripped jeans and leather jacket and at 7pm she met Snow White in the park and they rushed to the disco.
When they arrived the disco was packed. They danced for a while, then from across the room the prince noticed Cinderella. He walked up to her and when he stood in front of her, he stared at her and.......
“You look beautiful may I have this dance? asked the prince.
Flabbergasted Cinderella replied “yes.”
Soon everyone was watching them dancing, the girls all had jealous looks on their faces.
When the party was over Cinderella ran home with Snow White. When she arrived home her father was pacing the room. As she opened the door, her father ran over and hugged her tightly.
“Oh thank goodness you are here. Where were you?” asked her father “Did you go to the disco when I said not to go?”
“Sorry, father,” said Cinderella. "Everyone was there."
“Well you are grounded for the week young lady.”
Accepting her punishment meekly, she went up to her room knowing that she had the best night of her life

This year Ms Devine asked us to do a timeline project. A timeline project is where you write about what happened you over the years. We had to put present the time line project on a chart paper.
Some girls drew pictures and others had photos of themselves. Each project was beautifully decorated.
One side of the project displayed was our personal history and the other side had world events since we were born. Everyone enjoyed reading and learning about other peoples personal history.
Genre:Report: Cycling lessons
A couple of weeks ago our class started cycling lessons with Carl and Katie from Cycle Sense. We have only been doing it a few weeks but it is great fun. The first week we had a theory class about road signs and the rules of the road.
The next week we moved on to cycling. We learnt the basics like pedalling properly, freewheeling, pedalling standing up and much more. We did the same activities the following week but they introduced some games as well. Then the next two weeks we learned how to cycle on the road safely. We also learned how to signal, look and turn.
Last week was the first time we sent out a group of girls on the road with Carl and Katie. All the girls said it was really fun and this week we will be sending another group of girls out on the road.
Last week we did a series of fun games and obstacle courses. In the obstacle course we had to limbo under a pole cycle, over a screw driver, go around a roundabout and then go through a series of turns. Then we had to balance on the wheels of the bike and then we had to go over a set of ramps.
So far in the course we are having lots of fun and we are enjoying it thoroughly.
