Mr Wilson's 4th Class were delighted to welcome Mrs Joan Hickson, Mary Kate's mum into our classroom.
Joan is a fantastic artist and teacher, and is extremely kind enough to share her talents with our class. Joan uses the medium of textiles to create beautiful pieces of art.
We learned all about the possibilities of the project, and explored some of the examples that Joan had brought with her. Looking at the textiles was a treat to the senses. Not only did we love looking at them as pieces of art, but we couldn't resist touching them. That is the brilliance of textiles! They felt so soft, like a warm blanket.
We learned about the value of empty space in art, the importance of texture and colour, and lots of the different techniques we could use with textiles.
We learned that we could design anything we wanted, but also stick to our overall theme of "Where We Belong". The girls came up with fantastic ideas and we can't wait to see what they create!
