The girls in Mr Wilson's class embraced their inner "Pirates" this week as we learned about the concept of Sea Shanties.
We learned about how 'work' songs were used in the past to make the work seem more enjoyable, and to make the days feel shorter! (We should try this during our maths!!)
We also learned about the specific rhythm of the songs, and how it was used to co-ordinate movements such as pulling on ropes while on sailing ships.
We sang the famous song "Wellerman".
Keep a close eye out if you're sailing the waters around Cork.... You might bump into these Beaumont Pirates!!!!
