Science Week in 6th Class!
20th Nov 2023
Science week was a great success in 6th class this year. We conducted several experiments throughout the week from all different stands of the science curriculum.
For the Sciece Expo in the halla we showcased an experiment investigating how different surfaces on ramps can impact the friction experienced by a toy car. We had students and parents predicting and justifying their predictions before we carried out the experiment.
Another experiment we showcased was one we conducted earlier in the year where we could see how a chemical reaction takes place between baking soda and vinegar creating carbon dioxide.
Other experiments we did in class were great fun such as creating our own xylophone with simply glasses and water.
One of our favourites was seeing how you can spread out pressure by increasing the area it is applied on. We proved this by using a table and some balloons. We were surprised that the balloons were able to support 2 or 3 students standing on them without popping!
