Non-Newtonian Fluids in Mr Wilson’s 5th Class
We were engrossed in science this week in 5th class as we were very busy learning about the three states of matter: solids, liquids and gasses.
We discussed and debated the properties of the three states of matter, and really tried to refine our thinking to define each one in one sentence!!
As always, science is all about discovery and research, so we conducted an experiment to create “”Oobleck” which is officially known as a “Non Newtonian Fluid” which doesn’t follow Newtons law of viscosity. It is a substance that borders both a solid and a liquid depending on how much pressure is placed upon it.
We had great fun making the Oobleck and experimenting with it. The messier the better!!
Check out the photos from a great lesson!
