4th Class Measuring the Perimeter
After our fun-filled exploration of length last week, Mr. Wilson’s 4th class took their skills to the next level—this time, measuring the perimeter of our entire school! 🏫✨
Using what we already knew about non-standard and standard units of measurement, each group set off on a mission. Some chose to measure using their own creative non-standard units, while others worked with a metre-long piece of string to take their measurements. One group even tried out the measurement app on the iPad! 📱🔍
Once all the data was collected, we put technology to the test! 💻🌍 Using Ordnance Survey maps, Mr. Wilson introduced us to a new mathematical term—scale. We discovered how scale helps us measure large distances accurately and how digital tools like Google Maps allow us to check our results against real-world measurements. 🗺️📐
Through this investigation, we learned that being precise is key when measuring! A small mistake can lead to big differences, and checking our work is essential. ✅ By experimenting, discovering, and applying our knowledge of length, we won’t be forgetting these lessons anytime soon! 💡🎯
