Homemade Terrariums in 4th Class
This week, Mr. Wilson’s 4th class had an exciting adventure in Beaumont Park as we gathered materials to make our very own terrariums! It was a hands-on learning experience that combined creativity, nature, and a lot of fun.
So, what’s a terrarium? A terrarium is like a mini garden inside a glass jar. It’s a small, self-sustaining ecosystem where plants can grow. Once the plants are inside, they don’t need a lot of care because the jar helps keep water and air circulating, just like in nature! It’s a little like creating your own tiny world that you can watch grow every day.
In Beaumont Park, we collected small plants, moss, stones, and soil. We layered these materials in our glass jars, starting with stones at the bottom to help with drainage, followed by soil, and finally, our plants and moss. Everyone got to design their terrariums differently, making each one unique!
We had a fantastic time putting our terrariums together and learning about how ecosystems work. It was a fun way to bring a little bit of nature into our classroom, and we can’t wait to see how our plants grow over the next few weeks!
