Digital Art in 4th Class
This week, Mr. Wilson’s 4th class took on an exciting challenge: creating beautiful digital artwork using iPads! With a bit of creativity and teamwork, the children embraced a new way of expressing themselves artistically.
While we didn’t have Apple Pencils to work with, that didn’t stop us! The children used their fingers as their tools, turning the iPads into virtual canvases. Although it was tricky at first to achieve precision, the results were incredible! By experimenting with different brushes, textures, and vibrant colors in the drawing app, each student brought their own unique vision to life.
As the class worked, we noticed something interesting: some people found that they preferred creating digital art over traditional paper-based methods. Here’s why:
•Unlimited “Undo” Button: No erasers were needed, as everyone could simply undo their mistakes with a tap.
•No Mess, No Fuss: There were no paint spills or smudges to worry about.
•Endless Possibilities: The wide range of colours, tools, and effects available in the app gave the children more freedom to explore their creativity.
•Eco-Friendly Option: Digital art uses no paper or other physical materials, which ties in perfectly with our efforts to promote sustainability and our Green School.
Of course, traditional art still holds a special place in our hearts. Some students mentioned that they missed the feel of pencils and brushes in their hands and enjoyed the tactile experience of working on paper. However, this activity was a great way to broaden their artistic horizons and learn new skills for the digital age.
By the end of the lesson, our digital gallery was filled with vibrant landscapes, imaginative characters, and abstract designs. We had great fun!
Once we finished, we added a copy of our artwork to our digital E-Portfolios and reflected on our new learnings.
