Civil Rights Movement in 4th Class

22nd Oct 2024

As October is Black History Month, Mr. Wilson’s 4th class took a journey through history as we learned about the incredible life of Dr. Martin Luther King Jr. and the Civil Rights Movement. We explored how Dr. King fought for equality and justice, and how his powerful speeches and peaceful protests changed the world for the better. The children were inspired by his message of non-violence and standing up for what is right, and we had many thoughtful discussions about fairness, kindness, and respect for others.

As part of our learning, we also studied the famous song “Blowin’ in the Wind” by Bob Dylan. This song, written during the Civil Rights era, helped people think about important questions like peace, freedom, and equality. The lyrics of the song ask questions that make us think deeply, just like the issues Dr. King stood for. We listened to the song and discussed its meaning, reflecting on how music can be a powerful tool to inspire change and bring people together.

The class connected Dr. King’s message with the lyrics of “Blowin’ in the Wind,” and we talked about how the song’s questions are still important today. It was a wonderful way for the children to see how history and music can work hand in hand to promote positive change in the world.
