4th Class Science trip to the Ursulines
4th Class could have been mistaken for Albert Einstein on Wednesday 16th March!
We were kindly invited to the Ursuline's Secondary School to conduct two science experiments.
Our first experiment was "Chromatography", and we were tasked with solving a crime! Someone had stolen all the sweets, and 4th class were responsible for finding out who. We tested the evidence that was left: the thief's pen!
We suspected one of the teachers, so we tested all their favourite pens. We used a special type of paper called chromatography paper.
We discovered that the culprit was MR WILSON!! But thankfully, he gave us our sweets back!
Our next experiment was to isolate DNA from a kiwi fruit. We used an enzyme called amylase to isolate the DNA protein, and then we were able to gather all the strands together. It was such an amazing experience.
Then, we were brought to the tennis courts and we played tennis with the transition year girls.
We had such a wonderful time and we would like to thank Ms O Mahony, Ms Cadden, Ms Counihan, and Mr McBeth for the fantastic day.
